The first of the most expensive military submarines on the planet is a Russian vessel known as The Dolgorukiy which is part of the Borei class of ships which consisted of 3 ships in total. This Russian Ballistic missile submarine was constructed in 1996 for what is now equivalent to 1.2 billion dollars and was planned to be a smaller and cheaper version of the Typhoon class of Russian submarines (The Typhoon class while being more expensive is no longer in service so it didn?t make our list).
