pWell, I was always interested in history and also art. I had the good fortune of studying in a school where we were taught art by artists instead of art teachers, which was unusual for that time. Our teachers were eminent artists like Kanwal and Devayani Krishna, so at a very early age I was exposed to the world of art, the lifestyle and its aspirations. I was very close to my teachers and their daughters and it was a world that was accessible to me. My parents, who were open-minded about my pursuit of arts, believed that girls on growing up should be able to earn a living. However, at that time, art was not regarded as something by which you could earn a living. They felt I should acquire a degree in a subject of my choice.
