Electric Hypercar Inspired by 1920s – Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne
Spanish carmaker Hispano Suiza has revealed another version of the car it brought to the Geneva Motor Show in 2019. This is the Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne, an 820kW, rear-drive, electric hypercar taking inspiration from the motorsport legacy of the Hispano Suiza brand from the 1920s.
This new, more hardcore version of the Carmen, delivers an immense 1,098bhp (820KW or 1,114PS), up from 1,005bhp in the regular model, and a maximum of 1180lb-ft (1,600Nm) of torque from its two electric motors, both of which drive the rear wheels alone – it’s rear-wheel drive only, unlike most modern electric hypercars – and makes it good for 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in under 2.6 seconds, before topping out at 180mph (290km/h). Power comes from an 80kWh lithium-ion battery pack which should afford it a claimed 248 miles (400km) of range.
Hispano Suiza reiterated plans to build a mere five Carmen Boulogne models to join 14 standard Carmens. Each Boulogne starts at a cool €1.65 million (approx. US$2 million), and Hispano Suiza’s “Unique Tailormade” department will offer customization opportunities befitting of a two-seater in that price range. Deliveries will begin in 2022.
