Ford Introduces New High-Performance Ebikes Inspired by Mustang and Bronco
Ford is making headlines by entering the competitive ebike market, having partnered with e-mobility company N+ to introduce ebikes inspired by the iconic Mustang and the rugged Bronco SUV. This move follows a series of car manufacturers like BMW, General Motors, and Porsche, who have previously ventured into the ebike realm, often attaching a premium price tag to their products due to the branded association.
Earlier this month, N+ announced a similar partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team to produce a new line of branded ebikes. Ford, having dabbled in ebike concepts back in 2011 and 2015, is making a more committed foray into the market with designs that pay homage to what Ford calls “America’s best-selling sports car” and its adventurous SUV.
The new models, though distinct in styling, share several technical specifications. Both are equipped with a 750-W rear-hub motor that supports pedal assist across four power settings, with top speeds reaching up to 28 mph. A substantial 720-Wh battery provides approximately 60 miles of range per charge, and riders can monitor their stats through a handlebar-mounted color LCD display. These bikes also feature a 9-speed Shimano gearset and are designed to handle various terrains with an air-sprung suspension fork and a rear shock to smooth out the ride.
