The house located at 1709 Broderick St. in the lower Pacific Heights neighborhood has been a local landmark since the show debuted.Franklin paid $4 million for the home in a deal that closed in early August. The home was built in 1883 by Charles Lewis Hinkel and has a beautiful Italianate Victorian architecture façade.Franklin’s love of the home goes back nearly 30 years when he handpicked the home to be used in the now iconic stock shots in the show’s opener.Inside, the nearly 2,500 sq. ft. four-bedroom home has a sophisticated decor that is worlds away from the folksy charm of the interior shown on the television show.
