Le Di Vin Review
Sometimes you want to go out to catch up with friends but you don?t necessarily need a full meal, something to nibble on over a drink is just perfect. Which is where Edinburgh’s growing number of wine bars tick all the boxes and we decided to check out Le Di Vin that has been leading the pack for a number of years now to see what makes it so popular.
Background and Concept
Tucked away in Edinburgh?s West End on Randolph Place in a former Oratory (small chapel)Â Le Di Vin is managed by owner Virginie Brouard who also runs the incredibly popular La P?tite Folie next door.
The space is focused around the large bar to the left with a full wall of wines on display – there is an upstairs mezzanine seating and to the right there is more seating for food. Wine is the focus of the experience (it is a wine bar after all) and what a selection they have, working with smaller suppliers from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, South Africa and Corsica there is a balance of new and old world wines and there is most definitely something for all palates. The wine menu is extensive and if you are not a wine pro can take some help navigating – help is at hand in the form of the incredibly knowledgable and friendly staff, who will also let you try out wines beforehand to make sure you find something to suit you.
