MG EXE181 Electric Hypercar Concept
MG, the classic British sports car brand, just dropped a bombshell with its electric hypercar concept, the EXE181. When I first saw it at the Beijing Motor Show, my jaw dropped. This thing is sleek, futuristic, and it pays tribute to MG’s historic 1959 prototype, which set a land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The original EXE181 hit an astounding 254.91 MPH with a supercharged 1.5-liter twin-cam engine. But the new EXE181" It’s all-electric, with a design that feels like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Let me set the scene for you. The EXE181’s body is shaped like a teardrop, with a drag coefficient of just 0.181. To put that into perspective, that’s slicker than almost any other production car out there. You have to get into the realm of concept cars to find anything smoother. And then there’s the cockpit – a single-seat monocoque that looks like a bubble at the center of the car. This central design stretches into a tail fin that can lift to act as an airbrake when the car needs to slow down from high speeds.
Inside, it’s just as cool as you’d imagine. The steering wheel is a yoke-style, with a built-in touchscreen. It’s minimalist, with almost nothing else cluttering the space.
