Any other house is going to be something of a step down after living in the White House, but the Obamas have chosen well in terms of their new home. The family has decided to stay in DC for the time being so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, can finish high school without interruption. Their future digs will be located in the tony Kalorama neighborhood; the house itself is a 9-bedroom, 8,200 square foot mansion situated on a quarter-acre property. The Kalorama house was sold in May of 2014 for nearly $5.3 million. The property is currently owned by Joe Lockhart, executive vice president of communications for the NFL, and his wife Giovanna Gray, the Washington editor for Glamour magazine. The couple will be leasing the house to the Obamas for the foreseeable future.Photos of the house’s interior show a mix of sleek, modern renovations that complement the historic bones of the 1928 architecture.
