Peninsula to expand its private-jet tour offerings
Peninsula Hotels, which in October announced it would partner with Crystal Cruises for its first around-the-world, private-jet tour, is expanding its reach in the increasingly popular market for luxury packages with noncommercial air options.
The Hong Kong-based hotel company previewed its next step last week at the International Luxury Travel Market in Cannes, France, where marketing executive Robert Cheng announced Peninsula will be adding three China itineraries with private-jet travel for small groups between its properties in China and Hong Kong.
Peninsula has not released an official announcement or details on the China tours. And company officials declined to comment further on plans for possible future expansions in the private-jet arena beyond the inaugural Crystal event on its new, 84-passenger Boeing 777 or the smaller Gulfstream 450 jet charters in China. But Imperial Tours last month posted details of Peninsula Private Jet Tours Through China on its blog, saying the companies have collaborated to develop the small-group packages for culinary, family and cultural-heritage activities. The trips have set dates throughout 2017, but Imperial said additional journeys could be commissioned or other customized itineraries could be created for private groups with either private or commercial air travel between the Peninsula properties in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
