The automotive world recently witnessed an extraordinary transformation of the Porsche 928, thanks to Mexican driver and customizer Fercho Urquiza. His project, the Porsche 928 Monolite, redefines the classic grand tourer as a highly modified rally car, blurring the lines between traditional design and innovative customization.
Urquiza chose the Porsche 928 S as the foundation for his ambitious project. This model, a grand tourer originally designed for cruising highways, underwent a dramatic makeover under his skilled hands. Over two years, Urquiza dedicated himself to handcrafting numerous custom parts, reshaping the car’s identity. The meticulous process involved fabricating a roof rack and an equipped brush bar with a winch, symbolizing the vehicle’s readiness for rugged terrains.
One of the most striking modifications is the conversion of the rear hatch into a functional bed, capable of carrying two spare tires, a practical addition for long rallies. Urquiza’s vision extended to the aesthetics and functionality of the 928, with the front and rear fenders flared to accommodate taller, wider tires, enhancing its off-road capabilities. The underside of the car didn’t escape his attention either, with quarter-inch skid plates installed to protect the vital driveline components from harsh terrains.
