As we talked on the phone Monday evening, Craig Jackson the CEO of Barrett-Jackson auctions became more and more animated. His enthusiasm for the Ford GT prototype that has been consigned for sale at his upcoming Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun Casino is clearly a special prize.“Cars like this are rarely allowed out of a manufacturer’s possession.” He said, pointing out that the car still had all the original plugs and wiring for testing. “So much of this car is different from the one that went into production. It has a carbon fiber rear clamshell that didn’t make it into the street car because of its high cost. It has an all aluminum headliner, different seat design, and an exhaust system that was put in specifically for emissions testing.”The person who wins this car will be getting not just a piece of history, but also a work of art, literally.
