Hodinkee, a renowned watch blog, has collaborated with various brands over the years to create unique timepieces, including a notable partnership with TAG Heuer. Their collaborations have often drawn from historic models, rejuvenating them with modern touches. In their latest venture, TAG Heuer and Hodinkee present a fresh iteration of the Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer – a watch steeped in history and innovation.

The original Seafarer was developed in response to the needs of hunters and fishermen, incorporating John Alden Knight’s Solunar Theory to predict optimal times for such activities. This design by Heuer for Abercrombie & Fitch, which began in the late 1940s, featured innovative elements like a tide indicator. Over the decades, the model evolved, adding features and undergoing design tweaks until the late 1960s.
The 2024 TAG Heuer x Hodinkee Carrera Seafarer revives the spirit of these vintage models. It blends the simple bezel design of the 1950 model with the color scheme and water resistance of the 1968 version, housed in TAG Heuer’s modern glassbox Carrera case. This model also introduces the TH20-13 tide indicator chronograph movement, viewable through the caseback, and features a regatta subdial and a small seconds counter. The black dial, surrounded by a 60-minute scale, complements the black rubber strap, creating a sleek and functional aesthetic.
