Sophia Loren was one of many celebrities attending the 1955 Venice Film Festival, having made four films that year: The Sign of Venus, The Miller?s Beautiful Wife, The River Girl and Scandal in Sorrento. None of the films were nominated and incredibly no Award was given that year for Best Actress.  Best Actor that year was won by Kenneth More, who received the ?Volpi Cup?, so named for one of the Festival?s founders: Count Guiseppe Volpi di Misurata.
