Think bright, think light
Natural light in a room has a revitalizing and soothing effect, and is an absolute must in creating a sense of peace and paradise in any bedroom. Work with whatever windows or doors your room has, and maximize them. Window dressings should be as light, airy and gauzy as possible. Think sheer voile cotton or a soft, sandy-colored linen to introduce a natural, beachy feel. Instead of the typical curtain rod, use bamboo to really play up the tropical theme. And keep wall colors light (especially if your room is on the smaller side). Bold, loud colors will make the room seem smaller and mute the effects of the natural light; they can even bring you stress.
