Steak Edinburgh
Behind an unassuming exterior of a Georgian Townhouse in Edinburgh is one of the cities best Steak restaurants (probably best actually in my opinion), the aptly named ?Steak’ does what the name suggests; it serves amazing steaks. Opened in 2012 Steak has been quietly working away winning awards and serving perfect premium cuts of beef in a beautiful theatrical setting. With spring in the air TLE were asked along to try out their fresh new menu. and boy we were not disappointed!
Background & Concept
Positioned across from the Playhouse Theatre, The Steak building is like Mary Poppins bag, walk in through the main doors and the spaces cavernous qualities become apparent. The main restaurant lies ahead, the bar Skittle and Stones off down to the right and its informal Steak on Stones restaurant to the left.
Steak has a theatre like quality to the space, a former ballroom has been re-imagined into a meat eaters paradise with the large space being brought down to size with suspended wood beams running from the high ceilings and backless shelving helping to add intimacy between tables. Green bankers lamps and candles provide a soft hue and focuses your eyes on on your plate, the space has a sophisticated look which works well with the food they serve.
The Menu
The restaurant is all about the meat and these is no standard cuts of beef. The meat comes from Donald Russell who has been a Royal Warrant Holder since 1984 and supplier to H.M The Queen. Beef is matured...
