Mix and match textures
When you walk into a room where everything is exactly the same to the touch, you will most likely feel like you are at your grandma?s house. But imagine a slick, steel table sat next to a couch with fluffy, soft pillows and now we?re talking luxury. Try to put two contrasting textures near each other to emphasize the difference and it will instantly give you a modern, high-end look. Think about clothing, how soft materials look good with studs and metal zippers and take inspiration from that. There is no need to do a complete overhaul: just look at your room and think about places where you can replace some linen or add some detail. You can also contrast natural and artificial materials, so if you have a metal, minimalist desk with all of your tech on top, add a potted plant or drape a soft, woven blanket over your chair.
