G-SHOCK Unveils New Samurai-Inspired Watch
G-SHOCK has recently unveiled the MRG-B2000JS-1A, a new limited edition model that continues to draw inspiration from samurai culture, much like its predecessor, the “Shougeki-Maru: Gai” watch released last year. This latest iteration not only honors the legacy of ancient master swordsmiths but also integrates traditional Japanese artisanal aesthetics into its design.
The new MRG-B2000 model pays tribute to the ?Juryoku-Maru: San,? a katana specially commissioned by Casio and crafted by the renowned master swordsmith Teruhira Kamiyama. Echoing the craftsmanship of this unique blade, Kamiyama’s skills are further showcased as he hand-etched the sword’s name in kanji on the watch’s caseback, blending heritage with modern technology.
The watch is notable for its recrystallized hybrid titanium bezel, designed to mimic the exquisite appearance of the katana’s blade. The titanium alloy bracelet of the watch is adorned with a pattern that reflects the Aogai blue shell lacquer-work by Mamoru Nomura, which is featured on the original sword’s scabbard, presenting a stunning visual connection to the traditional art.
